LEFT TO RIGHT: John "Juice" Mayor (drums) ; Neil Summersgill (keyboards, vocals)
Phil Hendriks (guitar, vocals);John Wade (guitar, vocals);Mark Hurlbutt (bass)

Born out of the ashes of  The STIFFS (`82 line-up) and The STRIDES.
They were essentially a straightforward pop band.
The band featured the songwriting talents of Neil Summersgill
and John Wade who would later go on to found the MIRACLE BIRDS.
Phil Hendriks also provided a few tunes , including a couple of songs
leftover from The STIFFS - "Peso trail" and "Stand up".
IDOL RICH attracted a strong local following and released 2 singles
on DORK records :
"Blaze of love" / "Peso trail"    1984

and "Skye boat song" / "Stand up"   1984 (as Richie McIdol)

Neither single sold particularly well outside of the band`s hometown .
The band recorded one other song, the Summersgill composition,
"Never gonna let you down" - as yet unreleased!
In early Jan. 1985  Hendriks , Mayor and Hurlbutt teamed up with original Stiffs
guitarist "Strang" to record the STIFFS `85 single "The Young Guitars".
John Wade defected shortly afterwards and contributed to the record`s
flipside "Yer under attack".This signalled the end of IDOL RICH.
